Anuga FoodTec, the international trade fair for food and drink technology, which will take place from 10th to 13th March 2009, is the only trade fair in the world to focus on all aspects of food and
drink technology, across processes, technologies
and sectors. In addition to the exhibitors' presentations, this approach will also be reflected by a diverse and high-quality supporting programme. A major topic at Anuga FoodTec is "packaging". An
activity area titled "Sustainability" — a term
which also implies future-readiness and environmental compatibility — will be set up in association with the Berlin-based packaging agency Berndt&Partner Packaging Creality, one of the leading
specialists in packaging design and development.
"Sustainability" — especially the facet of ecological sustainability — has become ever more controversial and relevant over the last two years. In all relevant areas, people are beginning to rethink
for the good of our planet. From politics and
industry right through to the end user — all the parties involved are considering sustainable activity. The approaching Anuga FoodTec 2009 will dedicate a special area to "sustainability".
The special show will present the different stages of the value chain — from the producers of raw materials right through to the consumer — with the help of striking examples and always focusing on
sustainability. At the same time, trade visitors
can find out more about the effects that different packaging concepts, sales channels or even nutritional habits have on CO2 emissions, and which approaches and solutions the packaging industry is
already pursuing. In addition, suggestions will be
given on how economic benefits can be gained through sustainable, ecological measures.
In addition, the "Conference on sustainable packaging" will take place on 12th March 2009 as part of Anuga FoodTec. Under the auspices of the nova Institute for Ecology and Innovation, experts from
politics, industry and research will report on and
discuss the topic of "sustainable packaging solutions", focusing on political conditions, market development, influencing factors, new options and ecological valuations. Participation in the
conference, including catering, costs €350 and also
