Informa and UBM merger off |
Plans to merge the specialist and business information giants Informa and United Business Media (UBM), London, UK, have been abandoned, with the two companies announcing the breakdown of their talks following failure to reach agreement on the pre-nuptial terms. However, Informa is evidently already in negotiations with another prospective buyer. According to newspaper reports this is a group of financial investors. The private equity firms Cinven and Candover, which own Springer Science & Business Media, have apparently not yet made an offer for Informa, a global organisation with over 150 offices in more than 40 countries employing 10,000 staff worldwide.
