Optimism among exhibitors and visitors at Flower Expo Ukraine 2016

Flower Expo Ukraine 2016 took place from 12-14 April in the International Exhibition Centre (IEC) in Kiev.

Guests at the opening ceremony of the exhibition included; the Dutch Ambassador, Mr. Kees  Klompenhouwer,
President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Mr. Anatoliy Kinakh, President of the Flower Council of Ukraine; Mrs. Irina Slobodyanyuk, Manager Eastern Europe of the French company Meilland International, Mr. Philippe Manguy and Managing director of Nova Exhibitions, Mr. Kuno Jacobs.

During the three days of the exhibition 6.484 visitors made their way to the exhibition to source new products, make new contacts, obtain market information or visit one of the numerous floral demonstrations.

The number of visitors has increased with some 30% in comparison to the 2015 edition.

The overall feeling among the exhibitors and visitors was optimistic and despite of the fact that Ukraine has gone through difficult times in the recent years the general mood is that the Ukrainian market is on its way up again.

This year the exhibition hosted a record high number of 36 Dutch participants, this large collective pavilion was organised by the company FlowerFame from The Netherlands. The company FlowerFame was launched in 2006 by Topflower BV (previously known as Holland Flower Partners) and Blooming (Peter van der Sluis). They have been present on the flower exhibition in Kiev since 2006.

Hennie Brockhoff of FlowerFame and agent of Schreurs in Eastern Europe says; “We have seen a large increase in companies which are interested in the Ukrainian market and they have all reason to be as we strongly believe that the Ukrainian market is recovering and will continue to grow in the coming years. This offers many new opportunities to exporters of flowers and plants, breeding companies and other suppliers of horticultural products. We are already looking forward to organise the collective participating once again in 2017.”

Apart from The Netherlands the following countries were represented at the exhibition; Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Israel, South Africa and Ukraine.

Flower Expo Ukraine 2017 is scheduled for 4-6 April and will once again take place in the International Exhibition Centre (IEC).
